IMDB rating: 5.90 Plot: Cruising is the fictional account of a series of gruesome killings in modern day New York City. Steve Burns, a “beat” officer still wet behind the ears, is recruited by Captain Edelson of the NYPD Homicide Unit to go undercover in search of the perpetrator. The victims in these killings are all homosexual men known to frequent “Leather,” S&M (Sadism and Masochism), and B&D (Bondage and Dominance) clubs so Burns, in “deep cover,” must mascarade as gay in order to attract the killer. He fits the victims’ profiles: dark hair, dark complexion, dark eyes. Cruising tells the story of his adventures and misadventures in this small subculture of gay society as he searches for the killer. |

Quadratics math question?
A captain of a cruise charges $36 per person. The cruise averages 300 people a day. The cpt is considering a price increase. A servey indicates that for every $2 increase, 10 fewer people will take a cruise. What increase in price would maximize the revenue? The answer is $12 how can i explain this? Or/and is there an equation i can use to find the answer?
p = price per person
x = number of persons
this follows a linear relationship
(x – 300)/(p – 36) = -10/2
x – 300 = -5p + 180
x = -5p + 480
revenue = px
r = px
r = p(-5p + 480)
r = -5p^2 + 480p
to get maximum r, get the derivative, set to zero and solve for p
r’ = -10p + 480
-10p + 480 = 0
p = $48 for maximum revenue
therefore the increase is $48 – $36 = $12
