Book recommendation: forced migration of 20th century UK children to Australia & Canada?
I was a US history major in college, emphasizing 1930s USA – also took courses on Western Europe in the same time period. However, Australia Prime Minister Rudd’s apology to survivors of the UK forced migration of (impoverished?) children taken from their parents and also orphans to provide labor in Australia and Canada caught me by surprise; worse, I can’t find a sourcebook for the incident. Can you recommend a good history of this sad event and how I can obtain it? Thanks!

i think the most logical place like the library would be excellent for u to find what u need.good luck, hope this has helped!

The Forgotten Children written by David Hill (who was one of these children taken to Fairbridge Farm in Australia). Please also be advised that the governments are blamed for this however it was the Catholic and Anglican churches who were the most abusive. Many court cases over the years have sued the churches for the abuse. Seems to have been hushed up somewhat.
